Kids and play grew out of the needs of local people. Local participation and involvement were being encouraged by Southwark Borough Council in the redevelopment of many housing estates. Often parents who wanted to attend consultation meeting found that they were unable to so due to lack of child care. Our presence enabled those who wanted to attend to do so
We were and are still able to employ local people to work with us. This works particularly well now with the Children Centres where parents are gaining NVQ Level II and III in child care as well as looking after their children, able to offer placements with us, and some paid work for some successful trainees. |

- Employ fully qualified, and experience staff.
- Users are covered by the Public Liability Insurance. All crèche workers have enhanced C.R.B. checks.
- We advise on the suitability of premises to ensure the safety and the welfare of the Children.
- Provide play and childcare equipment.
- Set up and clear equipment after use.
- Provide resources to meet the children’s needs.
- Ensure staff ratios are appropriate to children’s ages.
- Provide one-off crèches or a series of crèches.
